A sure sign of 'spring to come'is the blooming of the Cornelian Cherry. In late February or March this small tree or multistemmed shrub will feature tiny star like flowers of golden yellow before the appearance of foliage. This low maintenance dogwood prefers full sun to part shade and tolerates clay soil. May be grown as a shrub or with lower branches trimmed, trained as a small tree. Birds love the fruit in the fall but deer are not attracted.
