What do the plant zones mean?We use the USDA zone chart. The zones given in our descriptions are the lowest hardiness zone for the plant both from references and our experience in the Northwest Oregon climate. However, some plants require a cool dormant period to thrive and therefore are not suited to warmer winter climates. Heat and humidity can also be the blessing or the curse of some plants. Be aware of the minimum and maximum temperature requirements of the plants you purchase. Consult the A-Z Encyclopedia of Garden Plants by the American Horticultural Society or gardening resources for your region.

What do I need to know about the plants you send?Dancing Oaks Nursery wants our customers to be happy with the service they receive and be successful growing our plants. We promise to send you healthy plants that are ready to grow and thrive. We are trusting that you've done your part to provide them with a happy growing environment.
We will take the utmost care packing our babies for their trip to a new home. Plants are carefully wrapped and boxed for a safe journey to you. Depending on the season, some plants will be in varying degrees of dormancy. Since we do not force our plants in heated greenhouses, don't be alarmed if the plant is not actively growing when you receive it. Please determine the appropriate timing for planting in your area. For those plants that may be marginally hardy in your zone, we recommend spring planting to help them establish before any cold weather.

What do I do once my plants arrive?Upon arrival of your order inspect the material before unpacking to be sure it arrived safely. Dancing Oaks Nursery does not assume responsibility for plants damaged in transit. When damage is apparent, claims must be filed with the carrier. In no case will our liability exceed the price of plants purchased.
Carefully unpack the plants, pot them up if necessary and water them thoroughly and place in a sheltered location. The plants have travelled in the dark for a few days so fresh air and gentle light will help them get acclimated. Plant as soon as possible in the ground and give them special attention for a month or so.
Contact us within 5 days upon arrival of your order if you have any problems. If a mistake has been made, we will do everything we can to correct the situation. If we don't hear from you within 5 days we'll assume that the plants are in satisfactory condition.

Standard Eastern US (zip codes 80000 and less) shipping charge is 30% of the total order cost or $24.00 minimum shipping and handling charge.
PLEASE NOTE: Some large plants will incur additional shipping fees because of their size. If this is the case we will always contact you before shipping to confirm the total for your order. Thank you.
Yes, plants are heavy and expensive to ship. We do our best to keep costs down for you. With the cost of gas these days, the shipping is often cheaper than a drive to the nursery (especially for some of you far away) but not nearly as much fun as visiting the gardens.

Do you ship internationally?Sorry, we do not ship internationally. We ship only within the Continental United States.

How do I order online and do you have a minimum order? The ordering process online is simple. As you browse the online sale list, add plants in the quantity desired to your cart. When you are finished shopping, checkout and enter payment and shipping information.
We have no minimum order but we do have a minimum shipping and handling cost so we do suggest ordering more than just one plant to defray shipping expenses. Plus, you don't want your new plant to be lonely on the journey to its new home!
